This disease continues to claim the lives of children in an Arab country
The country's medical authorities are concerned
In recent months, Morocco has witnessed a significant increase in measles cases, with many cases recorded in various regions, after a number of deaths among children were recorded in the Chichaoua and Chefchaouen regions, which raised concerns among health authorities.
Many Moroccan families are experiencing a humanitarian tragedy, as families of children in some villages face severe difficulty due to the lack of vaccines and appropriate treatments in hospitals, in light of the widespread spread of measles, or "Bouhamroun", in recent weeks, as since the end of last October, children have begun to flock to health centers seeking treatment.
Measles cases in Morocco
This increase in cases comes after the disease has spread significantly in schools and among students, as cases have been detected among children who have not received the vaccine or who have been late in receiving it.
In light of this increase, health authorities stress the need to strengthen prevention through vaccination, and warn of the risks of the continued spread of measles if appropriate precautionary measures are not taken.
A large-scale campaign to vaccinate children
The Ministry of Health recently revealed that the disease has invaded remote areas in the suburbs of Sous, the High Atlas, the southeast, Chichaoua and Seksaoua, while the Souss region recorded the highest rate of infections, reaching 409 infections, and a number of deaths.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched a large-scale campaign in the middle of this year to vaccinate children and infants in most hospitals, to avoid the spread of the most contagious diseases among children.
