Details of finding the body of a general in the Revolutionary Guards
Killed with Hassan Nasrallah
Iran announced the discovery of the body of a general in the Revolutionary Guards who was killed alongside Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli raid last month on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
A statement by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards said: "Thanks to the continuous efforts around the clock, the body of Abbas Nilforoushan was recovered."
Burial date of the body
The statement added that "the date of his return to the homeland and the program of the funeral and burial will be announced later."
Nilforoushan, a senior official in the Quds Force that runs the external operations of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, was killed on September 27 alongside Nasrallah.
Israel threatens to respond to Iran
On October 1, the Revolutionary Guards fired about 200 rockets at Israel in response to the killing of Nilforoushan, Nasrallah, and Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement who was assassinated in Tehran in late July.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant vowed that his country's response to the Iranian missile attack would be "deadly, precise and surprising."
For its part, Iran warned that any Israeli attack on its "infrastructure" would prompt a "stronger response."
