Mutual shelling between Hezbollah and Israel

The shelling and fighting in Lebanon continues today, Wednesday. In the latest developments on the ground, Israeli warplanes launched a raid on the town of Al-Wardaniyeh in the Iqlim Al-Kharoub region in Mount Lebanon, and the raid targeted a residential apartment in one of the hotels, according to the National News Agency. The agency's initial information indicated that 4 people were killed and 10 were injured among the displaced hotel guests.

The Israeli army also monitored the launch of about 40 shells from Lebanon, according to the army press office. According to it, the shelling was directed towards the Upper Galilee and Haifa Bay, and shortly before that, sirens sounded warning of an air strike in the Haifa area. According to the army statement, the Israeli Air Force intercepted some of the missiles, and several shells were recorded falling in the area of ​​the shelling.

Face-to-face battles

In the same context, the Israeli army said that the battles have become face-to-face with Hezbollah elements, and that during these clashes, Hezbollah elements were killed. It published a toll of its operations, saying that the Israeli Air Force attacked 185 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon, during the past 24 hours.

Hezbollah elements in turn fired rockets towards the city of Caesarea, south of Haifa, and sirens sounded in northern Israel on Wednesday morning after Israel continued to bomb the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut during the night.

In return, the party threatened further escalation, saying that it had killed at least 35 Israeli soldiers and officers during the recent clashes, and wounded about 200 Israeli soldiers while they were trying to penetrate the southern towns.

Detonating an explosive device

Before that, Hezbollah announced that it had detonated an explosive device at dawn today against a force of Israeli soldiers and clashed with them when they tried to infiltrate the town of Blida.

The Lebanese group also said in a statement that its fighters had targeted Israeli soldiers near the Lebanese border village of Labbouneh with artillery shells and rockets on Wednesday, a day after Israel announced that it had killed two potential successors to the group’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

The group has been firing rockets and shells at Israel for a year in parallel with the war in the Gaza Strip and is now engaged in ground confrontations.

Hezbollah announced yesterday, through its Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, that it would continue fighting in the south until a ceasefire decision is reached, which was interpreted as a retreat by the party from the condition of a truce in Gaza for a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Plumes of smoke rose following Israeli airstrikes on the village of Khiyam in southern Lebanon near the border with Israel. Hezbollah reported that its fighters repelled two attempts by the Israeli army to infiltrate southern Lebanon, while Israel intensified its ground attack against it.
