Israel strikes command centers.. Hezbollah responds by targeting military manufacturing company
Mutual shelling and innocent civilian casualties
New and violent raids rocked the southern suburbs of Beirut on Saturday morning, as thick smoke covered the sky of the area, while the Israeli army announced that it targeted Hezbollah fighters in a mosque in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army announced that air force fighter jets carried out "precision strikes" on additional Hezbollah command centers and infrastructure facilities in Beirut.
Raids during the night
The Israeli army had previously said that its forces launched an air strike during the night on Hezbollah fighters inside a mosque in southern Lebanon, in the first bombing of its kind since the exchange of fire between Israel and the party began a year ago. The army said in a statement that during the night, under the direction of Israeli army intelligence, the air force bombed Hezbollah elements "who were operating inside a command center located inside a mosque adjacent to Salah Ghandour Hospital in southern Lebanon," according to the statement.
The Israeli army also announced that Hezbollah had fired about 90 rockets into Israeli territory from Lebanon since the beginning of the day.
This comes as Hezbollah announced that it had bombed the Israeli military industries company "ATA" in Sakhnin with missiles.
Targeting an Israeli military base
Earlier, Hezbollah announced that it had targeted the Israeli Ramat David air base located southeast of the city of Haifa with a volley of missiles, coinciding with its targeting of a Merkava tank during its advance on the outskirts of a border town in southern Lebanon, amidst the ongoing Israeli raids on Lebanon.
The party said in a statement that its fighters targeted the Ramat David base located about 45 km from the border with Lebanon with "a volley of Fadi 1 missiles". In another statement, it reported that its fighters targeted "a Merkava tank during its advance" in the outskirts of a border town "with a guided missile and hit it directly".
Before that, the Israeli army announced that it had monitored the launch of missiles launched from Lebanon, most of which were intercepted and the rest fell in open areas, adding that the air force is intensifying its raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Civilian casualties
For its part, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 25 people were killed and 127 wounded in Israeli raids on Lebanon yesterday.
The Israeli raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut continued at dawn on Saturday, as explosions were heard in the sky of the southern suburbs of Lebanon and smoke rose during the early morning hours of the day as a result of the bombing, which the Israeli army says targeted sites of the Lebanese Hezbollah.
The Israeli bombing continued yesterday to target southern villages and the southern suburbs of Beirut, and even reached the north, where the Bedouin refugee camp for Palestinians is located, where a leader of the armed wing of Hamas was targeted inside his apartment, killing him and 3 members of his family.
