The Egyptian Olympic team, led by Micale, lost to the host country France 3-1 in the match that took place between the two teams on Monday evening in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics, leaving the Pharaohs to play against Morocco for third place and the bronze medal.
The start of the match was fast and exciting from both sides, and the Egyptian team wasted a sure chance to score against the French Roosters in the second minute before the French team responded with a sure chance that was saved by Hamza Alaa and Hossam Abdel Majeed.
Ahmed Sayed Zizo wasted a sure goal for the Olympic team in the 14th minute of the match, after he recklessly shot the ball inside the penalty area for the French goalkeeper to catch it easily, and the Egyptian team gradually imposed its dominance over the match and succeeded in reaching the French goal more than once through Zizo, Ibrahim Adel and Mahmoud Saber.
Egypt's first goal at the start of the second half
The post saved the Egyptian Olympic team's goal from a certain goal after one of the French players hit a powerful shot that hit the post, so the first half ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Mahmoud Saber scored a goal for the Egyptian Olympic team in the 61st minute of the match between the Egyptian Olympic team led by Micale and France in the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics, before the French team equalized in the 83rd minute through Jean-Philippe Mateta, and the two teams resorted to extra time.
France leads by three goals in extra time
In the 99th minute, Philippe Mateta scored the second goal for France with a header that found its way into Hamza Alaa's goal, and Michael Olise added the third goal with a ground shot in the 108th minute, so the match ended with France winning 3-1.
Rogerio Micale, the coach of the Egyptian Olympic team, announced the official lineup that will play the match, which includes Hamza Alaa in goal, Mohamed Shehata, Karim El-Debis, Omar Fayed and Hossam Abdel-Majeed in defense, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mohamed El-Neny and Mahmoud Saber in midfield, and Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ibrahim Adel and Osama Faisal.
The Brazilian Rogerio Micale placed a number of players on the bench against France, namely: "Ali El-Gabry, Mohamed Tarek, Ahmed Atef Qattah, Ziad Kamal, Mohamed Hamdy, Bilal Mazhar, and Mostafa Saad Messi."
The Egyptian Olympic team entered the match in search of victory and qualification for the final match, after the ceiling of ambition and insistence on obtaining an Olympic medal in this version of the Olympics rose, especially since the team reached this round for the first time in 60 years.
The Egyptian national team deservedly reached the semi-finals of the football competition at the expense of Paraguay, and the Pharaohs Olympic team achieved a big surprise by defeating its Spanish counterpart with two goals to one.
