Instant translation feature coming soon to WhatsApp

Samsung is planning to add its own AI-powered instant translation feature to the popular WhatsApp app.

Samsung first introduced the Live Translate feature with the launch of the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. The feature allows users to translate phone calls directly using AI mechanisms that work across supported devices.

Samsung later introduced the instant translation feature on some other Galaxy devices that support the One UI 6.1 update that the company launched in recent months.

Recent leaks indicate that the Instant Translation feature will go beyond the default phone app on Samsung devices, and will work in other third-party apps such as WhatsApp, in addition to Google Meet, WeChat, Telegram, and others.

The feature is expected to benefit millions of users who rely on messaging and online calling applications to communicate daily in order to overcome language barriers.

It is worth noting that some applications, such as Telegram, allow users to translate text messages only into their preferred language without the use of external tools.

These leaks come in conjunction with the approaching date of the "Samsung Unpacked" event, scheduled to be held on July 10 at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The event is expected to witness the unveiling of many new devices, including the two foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, in addition to the new Galaxy Watch 7 watches, and other anticipated products.

Samsung is also expected to reveal new features for artificial intelligence technologies, which it calls "Galaxy AI" with the One UI 6.1.1 user interface update that will come installed on its new foldable devices, and will make it available on some other devices.
