Informed sources from US President Joe Biden's election campaign, the White House and the Democratic National Committee revealed that Vice President Kamala Harris is Biden's first alternative in the presidential race, if he decides not to continue.

Biden's sometimes stumbling and incoherent performance in the first debate against his Republican rival Donald Trump last week sparked panic within the Democratic Party due to concerns that he may not be fit enough for a second term, and calls from his party leaders to step down.
