Discovery of an amazing treatment for baldness and the secret in sugar

Scientists have found a new potential treatment for hereditary baldness, which is the most common cause of hair loss in men around the world.

Discovery of an amazing treatment for baldness

Scientists from the University of Sheffield in Britain conducted research on sugar that is naturally present in the body and helps form DNA.

While studying how these sugars heal wounds when applied topically, scientists at the University of Sheffield noticed that the fur around the lesions grew back faster on laboratory mice, compared to untreated mice.

The team decided to conduct further investigation, according to the British Daily Mail.

The research team then developed a non-toxic, biodegradable "gel" made of "deoxyribose" sugar, and then applied the treatment to models of mice with male pattern baldness.

The gel was applied to male mice suffering from hair loss caused by testosterone, and removed the fur from their backs.

Every day, the researchers applied a small dose of the sugar gel deoxyribose to exposed skin, and within weeks, the fur in that area showed robust growth, sprouting long, thick hair.

The sugar gel deoxyribose promoted hair regrowth by 80 to 90 percent in mice with male-pattern baldness.

The treatment affects about 40 percent of the population, according to the study, yet only two drugs have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat the condition so far.
