Euro2024 .. Portugal to the quarter-finals after defeating Slovenia on penalties

Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved three penalty kicks on Monday, leading his country to defeat Slovenia and advance to the quarter-finals of the European Championship hosted by Germany.

The two teams resorted to penalty kicks, after the regular time and extra time of their match ended in a goalless draw.

Euro 2024 .. Portugal to the quarter

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty kick in the 105th minute, but scored the first penalty kick for the "Brazil of Europe".

Each team played three penalty kicks, and Slovenia players missed all of them, while Portugal scored the full mark, to win the match 3-0.

Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Bernard and Silva scored for Portugal, while Costa saved the kicks of Josip Ilicic, Yuri Balkovic and Benjamin Verbić.

Costa also made an incredible save in a one-on-one in the second half of extra time that would have knocked Ronaldo and his teammates out of the tournament.

Portugal will play France in the quarter-finals on Friday, after they beat Belgium 1-0 earlier on Monday.
