Barcelona goalkeeper dies after falling in the bathroom

Ecuadorian club Barcelona announced the death of its player, goalkeeper Justin Cornejo, after falling and suffering a strong blow to the head.

The Ecuadorian club published a statement on its account on the "X" platform about the death of the 20-year-old reserve goalkeeper: Out of respect for the privacy of his family, we will not write more details, and there are no words or sentences that can take away the sorrows we feel now.

Ecuadorian media reported that Cornejo was in the hospital for 48 hours after he was found unconscious in the bathroom due to falling hard on his head.

The player suffered a number of brain injuries, which prompted the club to stop all activities while he was in intensive care.

The Ecuadorian club asked the South American Football Confederation "CONMEBOL" to postpone its qualifying match against Brazilian Red Bull in the Copa Sudamericana, but the federation rejected the request.
