News of Biden's fundraising suspension.. The election campaign denies

While multiple Democratic sources reported on Friday that many fundraising campaigns to bring the president back have been suspended.

News of Biden's fundraising suspension

The sources originally involved in the campaigns added that the decision to suspend came as the Democratic Party plans to accelerate the announcement of his candidacy and his pledge to continue the 2024 race, according to Reuters.

It also followed that Biden intended to raise money in Austin, Denver and California this week, but these plans have been postponed, at least for the time being.

It was reported that a number of major donors are closing their checkbooks amid questions about whether Biden should remain at the top of the Democratic Party's list, using their financial influence to demand that Biden withdraw from the November 5 race, perhaps in favor of his deputy Kamala Harris.

The president's campaign, however, has a different view, denying all the rumors and stressing that fundraising will continue as planned.

Kevin Munoz, a campaign spokesman, said on Friday that Reuters' sources were incorrect, stressing that the campaign is looking forward to a prosperous fundraising schedule.

Former comedian David Letterman will also headline a fundraising event for Biden at the home of Hawaii Governor Josh Green in about 10 days, a source familiar with the matter said, in a sign that Biden is moving forward.

The campaign had hoped to raise about $50 million in large donations in July for the Biden Victory Fund, but was on track to raise less than half that amount as of Friday, according to what Reuters reported, citing two sources familiar with the fundraising efforts.

A major East Coast funder of the campaign said there were many donors who said they would not put another cent into the race. The question is, if Biden stays in the race, will they come back?”

In addition, Biden raised $28 million in a single night in June at a Hollywood fundraiser hosted by actor George Clooney, who later urged Biden to end his campaign.

A Biden campaign official told Reuters the campaign has 10 fundraising events scheduled for this month.

There has been growing calls for Biden to drop out of the presidential race, with more than one in 10 Democrats in Congress publicly calling on the president to step down, especially after his poor performance in the June debate against Republican rival Donald Trump.

However, US President Joe Biden vowed on Friday to continue his campaign, even as seven other Democrats in Congress urged him to end his campaign, fearing it would cost the party “a heavy price” in the Nov. 5 election.

Biden, who is currently in quarantine at his home in Delaware after contracting the coronavirus, said he would resume his campaign soon.
