Video: Israeli raid kills Hezbollah unit commander, injures his son

The commander of Hezbollah's "Aziz" unit was killed and his son was injured in an Israeli raid in southern Lebanon on Wednesday.

A video clip documented an Israeli drone strike on a car near the town of al-Hawsh in Tyre, explaining that it killed the Hezbollah leader known as "Abu Nimah" and injured his son.

Later, Hezbollah announced the killing of the commander Muhammad Nimah Nasser "Hajj Abu Nimah" in the raid.

Sources said that the target was "a senior field official in Hezbollah, equivalent in his leadership position to Abu Talib, who was assassinated by Israel weeks ago."

In recent weeks, with the faltering of ceasefire talks in Gaza, fears of escalation on the Lebanese front have increased.

Hezbollah has exchanged almost daily attacks with Israeli forces along its border over the past nine months.

The conflict has displaced tens of thousands on both sides of the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Naim Qassem said Tuesday that the only sure way to stop the fighting on the Lebanese-Israeli border is a complete ceasefire in Gaza. "If there is a ceasefire in Gaza, Hezbollah will stop without any discussion," Qassem told The Associated Press in an interview from Beirut's southern suburbs.
