A policeman shot Ramon Souza, goalkeeper of Brazilian club Gremio Anapolis, after a fight between players from his team and Centro Oeste during a match that took place on Wednesday morning GMT, while the military police in the state of Goias confirmed that they had opened an investigation into the incident.

Video clips of the players from the two teams fighting on the touchline spread before a police officer intervened and shot goalkeeper Souza in the thigh, who was immediately taken to the hospital thanks to the ambulance present at the scene.

The Gremio Anapolis club demanded in an official statement that the responsible police officer be punished, adding: This is a criminal act by the person responsible for the protection and safety of the people present at the Jonas Duarte stadium.

The famous Brazilian newspaper "Globo" quoted the statement of the military police in the state of Goias, which confirmed that an immediate investigation had been opened into the incidents that occurred, adding: We are committed to complying with the law and will not tolerate any bad behavior by any of the members.
