In a mysterious incident, a famous American businessman was killed after falling from a hotel in New York City.

A US law enforcement official confirmed that J. Michael Klein, the founder of the movie ticket company Fandango, fell and died on Tuesday, according to CNN.

The New York Police Department said that at around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the 64-year-old man was found with injuries indicating that he had fallen from a great height from the Kimberly Hotel, a luxury hotel in midtown Manhattan.

Investigators believe that he jumped from the 20th floor of the hotel. Emergency medical services announced his death shortly after.

Klein is a founding partner and managing director at the private equity firm Accretive and CEO of an investment fund called Juxtapose, and has also founded a number of other companies.

Klein was married with six children, earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, according to the Harvard Business School Alumni Association website. Klein founded Fandango in 1999 and remained there until 2011, according to LinkedIn. It is now owned by NBCUniversal.
