Heavy Israeli shelling of Gaza.. thousands of residents flee
Israeli forces stormed several neighborhoods in Gaza City on board tanks and bombed them heavily on Monday, once again forcing thousands of Palestinians to flee, in the tenth month of the devastating war.
For months, the efforts of Qatar, the United States and Egypt, the mediating countries between the Hebrew state and the Palestinian Islamic movement, have faced obstacles on the way to reaching a ceasefire, at a time when each side insists on its demands.
Heavy shelling of Gaza
On the ground, fighting continued in the besieged and destroyed Palestinian sector. In the northern part of the sector, eyewitnesses, civil defense and the media office of the Hamas government said that Israeli soldiers invaded several neighborhoods in Gaza City, including Al-Daraj, Al-Tuffah, Al-Sabra and Tal Al-Hawa, forcing thousands to flee once again.
The civil defense in Gaza announced that it had "received reports of dozens of martyrs and wounded," noting that its crews could not reach them "in light of the heavy shelling." It pointed out that "the occupation forces are besieging dozens of families."
Witnesses reported that the Israeli army was asking residents via loudspeakers to evacuate the Al-Daraj and Al-Tuffah neighborhoods.
Renewed fighting
They said that tanks were stationed in several neighborhoods, while advancing in other areas with the help of airstrikes and drones.
Ten months after the start of the war, Israeli forces continue to fight in several areas that they had previously declared control over, such as the Shujaiya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, where the army said it had killed "dozens of terrorists."
