Zakharova said in a briefing on Thursday: "We have paid attention to the revelations of the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence, Kirill Budanov. In an interview with a Ukrainian newspaper on July 13, he admitted to failed attempts to assassinate the Russian president."

She also said, "There is no doubt that such crimes were planned and financed with the direct participation of the masters of the Kiev regime from the West," according to the TASS news agency.

She stressed in this regard that the collective West "thus becomes an accomplice in the criminal activity of the Kiev regime."

Zakharova pointed out that "not a single brutal or terrorist act against civilians or against government officials during this period has been condemned by Western countries individually or collectively."

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously said that Moscow was taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in light of the escalating tensions in the world.
