Michael Owen comments on Salah's departure from Liverpool
Former Liverpool and England star Michael Owen has warned the Reds' management against the departure of some of their stars, especially the Egyptian duo Mohamed Salah and the Dutch Virgil van Dijk before the start of the new season.
Press reports indicated the possibility of Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool this summer to join the Saudi Roshen Professional Football League, especially since the Egyptian star's contract with the Reds expires at the end of next season.
Michael Owen said in statements reported by the Liverpool Echo network: "Every team must keep the difference-making players in its ranks.. I think Liverpool has 3 or 4 players of this type, which is what makes the difference between being a good or great team."
He continued: "Every team has good players and great players, then there are elite players, who are the best, such as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.. If this duo leave Liverpool, they will not compete and will not win the English Premier League next season."
Michael Owen concluded: "They are very important to have, unless they are replaced by players of the same level, so I strongly support them staying."
