Lamine Yamal's agent threatens Barcelona
Jorge Mendes, the agent of the young star Lamine Yamal, demanded an increase in the latter's salary with his club Barcelona after his brilliance in the last European Cup, which he won with the Spanish national team.
Yamal, 17, was able to contribute five goals in the tournament by scoring one goal and making four, and no player in the history of the tournament has ever contributed to goals in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
Yamal's contract with his club Barcelona extends until the summer of 2026 and an initial agreement until 2030 with a termination of a contract worth one billion euros, but his representatives, led by the famous Portuguese Jorge Mendes, have begun negotiating with the Catalan club to increase his contract, according to the Catalan newspaper "Sport".
The newspaper added: Mendes is working to change the terms of Yamal's contract with Barcelona so that he can receive a higher salary than the current one, which does not reflect his current level.
Joan Laporta, the president of the Spanish club, promised Mendes that he would make a financial effort to satisfy Yamal in a manner that is consistent with his current levels.
Despite having one year left in the final year of his first contract and an initial agreement until 2030, Barcelona fear that those close to Yamal will start asking questions about the club's financial situation or that the "La Masia" son will leave for another adventure.
