Video: 11 dead, dozens missing in China bridge collapse
In a disaster caused by heavy rains, 11 people were killed and about 30 others were missing on Saturday after part of a bridge collapsed in northern China, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
The highway bridge over a river collapsed in Shangluo, Shaanxi Province, about 900 kilometers southwest of Beijing.
20 vehicles, 30 people missing
The television reported that about 20 vehicles and more than 30 people were missing on Saturday.
The state broadcaster confirmed in a report that on Friday at around 20:40 local time in Zhashui County in Shanlu District, the highway bridge collapsed as a result of heavy rains and many vehicles fell into the river.
July 19: a section of a bridge along the Danfeng-Ningshan Expressway (or Danning Expressway 丹宁高速 for short) in Zhashui County (柞水县), Shangluo (商洛), Shaanxi province, collapsed amid torrential rain at around 8:40pm, and multiple vehicles plunged into the river below.

The report added that an initial examination showed that about 20 vehicles and more than 30 people were still missing.
Pulling out sunken cars
Earlier, state television confirmed that 11 people were killed in the accident in the area, and that 5 sunken cars were pulled out of the river.
It is noteworthy that the authorities announced in the morning that rescue operations are still underway in search of survivors of the disaster.
