Video: 12 dead and injured in a fire in the Jewish Quarter in Egypt
About 12 people were killed and injured in a horrific and huge fire that engulfed several shops in the Jewish Quarter in the Gamaleya area, west of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Immediately, the authorities received a report of a huge fire breaking out in several shops on Al-Homsi Street in the Gamaleya area, which started in a commercial center dedicated to selling electrical appliances and spread to all floors and neighboring shops.

The authorities dispatched 10 fire engines and ambulances, where the civil defense forces succeeded in controlling the fire, extinguishing it and began cooling operations to prevent the flames from recurring again, while ambulances transported the dead and injured to hospitals.
Initial examination of the incident
The initial examination also revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, and resulted in the death of about 4 people and the injury of 8 others due to suffocation due to the thick smoke, while the authorities are currently assessing the losses resulting from the fire and determining the value of the damage.
