I'm watching you, baby.. A suspicious call between Biden and Harris raises seriousness
After receiving support from figures in her party following President Joe Biden's withdrawal, Kamala Harris is working to ensure that the Democratic Party nominates her to run in the presidential elections in November against Donald Trump.
While the news has focused over the past few days on her plan and electoral program, a call described as "suspicious" between her and US President Joe Biden has caused a lot of confusion.
American reports indicated that the 81-year-old president spoke in a hoarse voice from his home in Delaware with Harris, and said to her: "I'm watching you, baby."
However, Harris slipped up and said that Biden sent her an audio recording after his withdrawal, before correcting herself and saying during a campaign staff meeting "a call" with Biden.
The gaffe may have sparked controversy on social media, with conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene questioning whether "the game is over" because of Harris's slip of the tongue.
"Did Kamala tell the truth? Was the conversation with Biden recorded?" Greene added.
Some also said the president was seriously ill and could not speak on the phone, while other Republicans on X suggested the call was "recorded" or processed by artificial intelligence.
Comments also suggested that the doubts came after Biden announced he had tested positive for COVID-19 and then dropped out of the race.
An X account then pointed to campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez's reaction during the meeting, saying: "Pay attention to the woman's body language on stage, she knows something is clearly wrong. There was no actual conversation with Biden, which led people to believe this was likely a pre-recorded voice or AI."
Controversial Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, in a post on X, called for "proof of Biden's life."
