Dutch Prime Minister Leaves Office, Leaves on Bicycle
Former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has caused controversy on social media after leaving his post, which was handed over to Dick Schoof.
Rutte bid farewell to the place and rode his bicycle past dozens of attendees in the street.
For his part, former Dutch intelligence chief Dick Schoof was sworn in as the new prime minister of the country's right-wing government on Monday.
About 223 days after far-right leader Geert Wilders won the elections that stunned Europe and the world, Schoof takes over from Rutte after 14 years in power.
Rutte is scheduled to begin his new post on October 1, when the 10-year term of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg ends.
