Biden: I will not withdraw from the presidential race
The White House announced that US President Joe Biden "is not considering giving up continuing the race for the presidency for a second term."
A report by the American news network "CNN" revealed that Biden "acknowledged the difficult past few days," but "he told his team unequivocally that he will run for re-election and defeat Donald Trump."
Earlier on Wednesday, the White House denied the veracity of a report by the American newspaper "New York Times" about the possibility of Biden withdrawing from the presidential election race.
After the report was published on Wednesday, White House spokesman Andrew Bates wrote on the "X" platform: "This claim is completely false."
The "New York Times" reported that Biden told one of his allies that he knew he might withdraw from the presidential race if he was unable to convince the public in the coming days that he was ready to assume the position.
The report, which was published on Wednesday, comes days after Biden's performance in a debate against his Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, which was described as "disastrous."
The newspaper quoted this ally as saying that Biden "knows that if he has two more events like this (debates), we are in a different place," in an apparent hint at stepping down.
