Video: Fire kills 49 people in Kuwait
In a horrific incident that shook the Kuwaiti street, the Mangaf area in southern Kuwait witnessed a massive fire that broke out in one of the buildings that includes workers' housing.
The Kuwaiti authorities reported today, Wednesday, that 49 deaths and dozens of injuries were recorded in the Mangaf fire.
However, they later clarified that the fire was controlled, confirming that firefighting teams rushed to the site of the fire, and are still working to recover the bodies.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Fahd Al-Youssef, who inspected the site, announced the detention of the owner of the property as well as the owner of the workers' company, stressing that the Public Authority for Manpower will move to address the issue of overcrowding of expatriate workers in buildings.
In turn, the Director of Criminal Evidence at the Ministry of Interior, Eid Al-Owaihan, explained to state television that the building in which the flames caught fire is used as workers' housing.
He also added that firefighting teams are checking all parts of the building. He pointed out that some of the deceased are still at the site of the fire, stressing that most of the deaths were recorded due to suffocation.
