Israel: IDF, Intelligence knew about October 7 attack
A secret document revealed that the Israeli army and intelligence knew about the October 7 attack before it happened.
Officials explained that the army and intelligence knew about the details of October 7 three weeks ago, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.
The document added that the highest level of intelligence knew about some of the details of the attack before it happened.
The Supreme Court in Israel issued an interim order, ordering State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman to suspend his investigation into the security failure in confronting the October 7 attacks, which relate to the army and the internal intelligence service of the General Security Service (Shin Bet).
The groups "Watching Good Governance" in Israel filed a petition to the Supreme Court against the investigation, arguing that it is not within the comptroller's jurisdiction, stressing that it will harm the operational capabilities of the Israeli army, according to the Times of Israel.
The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Herzi Halevi, also opposed the investigation as long as the war on the Gaza Strip continues.
The Attorney General's Office, in turn, adopted the position of the petitioners opposing the efforts of the State Comptroller.
These developments come at a time when the relationship between the Israeli government and the army is witnessing great tension, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched a scathing attack on it.
He said in the government session on Sunday that "Israel is a country that has an army, not the other way around."
