the death a famous Egyptian saxophonist

The brother of the musician, Mohamed Ali Nasr, who died in the incident and who works outside Egypt in one of the Gulf countries, said that he was shocked when he received the news of his brother's death, and immediately booked the first ticket to Alexandria to catch up with the burial and funeral procedures.

The problem of power outages

The brother of the saxophonist explained that according to neighbors and witnesses to the incident, the power went out as is customary recently in Egypt, where load shedding procedures are in place, and his brother used the elevator to reach his apartment on the 19th floor, as the elevator operates with an external generator in cases of power outages.

He also pointed out that the generator suddenly stopped working, which in turn stopped the elevator, which was inside the musician Mohammed, a woman and her two children, as they made a number of calls to request help to get them out of the elevator that stopped between the tenth and ninth floors.

He tried to calm the children

In addition, a number of neighbors and the building guard tried to open the elevator door to let air in to its passengers, and the musician tried to calm the children from the panic that had seized them.

After a long time, Mohammed tried to get the children and their mother out of the elevator from a hole at the bottom where it had broken down between two floors, and indeed he succeeded and everyone got out, but when he tried to get out from the same hole, his feet slipped and he fell into the elevator shaft instead of touching the ground, amid the surprise and shock of the neighbors and their screams and the children's crying.

He sacrificed himself for the children

As Mohammed's brother Ali Nasr said, his brother is married and has no children, and is known for his good manners and helping others, and is loved by everyone.

He stressed that he is still in shock, not believing what happened, and feels like he is in a nightmare, while he said that his only consolation is that his brother died while helping children and saving their lives, saying, "He sacrificed himself so that the children could live."

The broken-hearted brother directed the need to educate citizens on how to act in such cases, such as the situation of an elevator breaking down with passengers and children inside, so that others can avoid such a tragedy that happened to his brother.

The martyr of electricity

The incident angered many who expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, where some called the victim musician "the martyr of electricity", and others called him "the hero of the elevator".

While many of them demanded the need to end the issue of reducing the electricity loads and power outages, which is not appropriate for a country the size of Egypt and the large number of its people, while others said that the government must find a solution to this problem as soon as possible so that no other victims fall.

The load shedding will end before the end of the year

For his part, Ayman Hamza, the spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased saxophonist.

The ministry spokesman said that the load shedding operations are linked to the increase in temperatures, as consumption broke the 35,000 megawatt barrier on Tuesday alone, which is a large number at this time of year. He explained that the load shedding will be fully completed before the end of this year.
