Due to Russia.. German company receives the largest arms order
German arms company Rheinmetall announced that it has received the largest order in its history, which comes as part of the consequences of the Russian war on Ukraine.
The largest arms manufacturer in Germany announced at its headquarters in Dusseldorf on Thursday that it had received a framework contract from the German army to supply artillery ammunition worth up to 8.5 billion euros.
It is worth noting that this framework contract dates back to July 2023, and its maximum value was about 1.3 billion euros, before this value was now increased by 7.2 billion euros.
The number of shells ordered, which can be fired at distances of up to 40 kilometers and are 155 mm in caliber, was not disclosed - but it is expected to number several million. These shells are mainly produced in the city of Unterloos in the German state of Lower Saxony.
This deal aims to fill the ammunition stores of the German army, which are almost empty, and a large part of it is expected to be sent to Ukraine.
