Mosquitoes attack Germany players at Euro 2024
Germany's stars were attacked by mosquitoes in the camp after qualifying for the last 16 of the European Cup, amid fears that diseases could spread to the players and they would miss the decisive matches in the next round.
Germany qualified as group leaders with 7 points after an exciting draw with Switzerland in the third round of the group stage on Sunday.
Germany's stars were surprised by the large number of mosquitoes in the camp, as striker Maximilian Beier complained of their bites, saying: We have started running to the offices, I have been bitten by mosquitoes two or three times, but if mosquitoes are our biggest problem in the tournament... that's okay.
Southern Germany was previously exposed to floods and high temperatures contributed to the appearance of insects, as the stadium for the Germany-Hungary match in the last round was literally a beehive on all sides.
Martin Geber, an entomologist, said in statements reported by "The Sun": This type of mosquito is very aggressive and appears in large numbers and bites during the day and night.
Mosquitoes are feared to transmit many diseases to players, as their bites are responsible for dozens of them.
