14-foot alligator swallows woman in Florida

New footage has emerged of a bloated 14-foot alligator with the body of a 41-year-old woman in its belly. The alligator devoured Sabrina Beckham after dragging her into a canal in Clearwater. Beckham was homeless at the time and was staying at a campground near where the alligator was.

New footage released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shows the aftermath of the deadly attack. The video shows the massive reptile surrounded by police moments after it was shot dead. Its stomach is visibly distended with Beckham inside.

A passerby raised the alarm in September last year after spotting the alligator with what appeared to be a body in its mouth. Soon after, several locals caught the horrific scene as the reptile dragged its prey away, with some even recording the scene.

Emergency responders, working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, were able to pull the alligator from the water before it was shot, and officials described it as “humanely euthanized” following the horrific attack. Officers taped the animal’s mouth shut and used ropes and chains to pull it out of the canal, Fox13 reported. They had to cut into the side of its belly to remove some of Beckham’s remains.
