Aircraft noise causes serious illness
Doctors usually confirm that excessively loud noises and sounds can cause illnesses and psychological conditions for some, especially those who love quiet and isolation.
A recent study by researchers from Boston University and Oregon State University has shown that exposure to high levels of aircraft noise is linked to an increased risk of obesity and heart disease.
The study, published in the journal Environment International, included 75,000 people living near major US airports.
It found that those exposed to aircraft noise levels higher than 45 decibels were more likely to develop cardiovascular disease, including obesity and increased body mass index.
The researchers suggest that aircraft noise, being more annoying than other forms of transportation noise, may lead to an increased stress response and sleep disturbance, resulting in high blood pressure and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
