Trump comments on Hunter Biden's conviction

In his first comment after the conviction of Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump confirmed that Biden's era will end and that he will not return to government again.

Trump wrote, "This trial was nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden family crime, which has raised tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia and Ukraine."

He continued, "The era of fraudster Joe Biden over the Biden family criminal empire will end on November 5th, and Biden will never again be able to access government for personal gain."

Details of Hunter Biden's accusation

Earlier, a jury convicted Hunter Biden on federal firearms charges, in the first trial in a criminal case in history targeting the son of a sitting US president.

The son of President Joe Biden, 54, was convicted of all three criminal charges against him related to his purchase of a firearm in 2018 when he was a drug addict.

The ruling comes as his father seeks to win a second presidential term and coincides with a scheduled speech by the president on gun violence.

Biden supports his son

The president expressed his "love and support" for his son in a statement issued by the White House after the conclusion of the trial in Biden's hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden said, "I am the president, but I am also the father. Jill and I love our son and we are proud of him today."

He added, "Many families who have loved ones who have struggled with addiction understand the sense of pride you feel when you see someone you love overcome it and be so strong and resilient in their recovery."

He stressed, "I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers his appeal."
