Manchester United make decision on Ten Hag's future

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag looks set to remain in charge of the English club following a post-season review by the club's board, according to local media.

FA Cup holders Manchester United are in talks with the Dutchman about extending his contract as he enters his final season at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag's second season at United ended on a high after he led them to a 2-1 win over bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

But the build-up to the Wembley clash has been dominated by talk of Ten Hag's future, with reports suggesting he will be sacked by new United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe regardless of the result.

United finished eighth in the league, their lowest since 1990, and were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage.

The former Ajax coach admitted after the cup win that he did not know what the future held for him, saying: "The only thing I do is prepare and develop my team and my players. This is a project for me. "When I came in, things were in chaos. We are better now but we are not where we want to be."

A number of potential names have been circulated as potential successors to Ten Hag at United since the end of the season, and Ratcliffe reportedly held talks with German Thomas Tuchel last week as speculation mounted over the Dutchman's future, but the former Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss is said to have ruled himself out of the race.
