YouTube Protects Users from Fake AI Content

In a new step to combat the illegal use of AI technologies, the video sharing platform YouTube announced the launch of a new feature that allows users to request the removal of content that imitates their faces or voices using artificial intelligence.

According to the Android Authority website, this step aims to address the growing concern about the use of artificial intelligence to imitate individuals.

YouTube confirmed that misuse of the complaint form may lead to the suspension of the user's account on the platform, as the platform is aware of the possibility of misusing this system to harass content creators.

YouTube pledged to manually review removal requests, with the aim of determining whether the reported content falls under categories such as parody or satire, especially in cases involving prominent figures.

Earlier this year, YouTube required content creators to disclose any content created using artificial intelligence to alter real events or fabricate the actions of individuals.

To enhance transparency, content creators must mark content created using artificial intelligence in the description fields on the platform. Failure to comply with disclosure requirements may result in content being removed and violators being kicked out of the ad revenue sharing program.

The emergence of generative AI tools has raised widespread ethical concerns, with creators around the world accusing big tech companies of using their artwork without proper consent to train AI models.

Advanced AI capabilities have enabled the creation of highly realistic images, sounds and videos, with calls for caution about their use to spread misinformation across digital platforms, especially during high-profile events such as the upcoming US presidential election.
