Targeted by the Houthis.. The ship "Verbena" sank after catching fire

The UK Maritime Trade Operations announced on Saturday that the crew of a Palau-flagged cargo ship was evacuated after it was targeted by missiles by the Houthis.

Targeted by the Houthis

The authority explained that the ship "Verbena" caught fire and began to sink, referring to an incident that occurred 98 nautical miles (about 181 kilometers) east of Aden, Yemen, on June 13.

The US Central Command had said that missiles fired by the Houthis in Yemen hit the ship "Verbena" in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday, causing a fire and seriously injuring one of its crew members.

The Houthis have been launching attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea region since November, declaring that this comes in solidarity with the Palestinians in the war waged against them by Israel.

The Houthi campaign in the Red Sea region has disrupted global shipping, causing delays and increasing costs across supply chains.
