A human rights report confirmed today, Friday, January 5, 2024, that about 4% of the total population of the Gaza Strip, more than 90 thousand people, are dead, missing, wounded, or permanently disabled, as the Israeli war enters its fourth month.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said in a statement distributed to journalists that Israel's continuous attacks by air, land and sea have destroyed about 70% of civilian facilities and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

The Observatory added that the widespread Israeli destruction of civilian facilities and infrastructure “aims to make the Gaza Strip an uninhabitable place and ultimately carry out the crime of forced displacement on Palestinian civilians.”

According to the Euro-Mediterranean Observatory, its preliminary statistics indicate that 30,676 Palestinians were killed, including thousands of people missing under the rubble, or whose bodies cannot be recovered, including 12,040 children, 6,103 women, 241 health personnel, and 105 journalists, while 58,960 were injured with various injuries, including hundreds in serious condition. The Observatory reported that one million and 935 thousand Palestinians were displaced from their homes and areas of residence in the Gaza Strip without any safe shelter being available for them, at a time when Israel’s raids completely destroyed 67,946 housing units, and 179,750 housing units partially.

Destruction of infrastructure in Gaza

He explained that Israel deliberately destroyed and caused serious damage to infrastructure facilities in the Gaza Strip, including targeting 318 schools, 1,612 industrial facilities and 169 health facilities, including 23 hospitals, 57 clinics, 89 ambulances, 201 mosques and 3 churches, in addition to 169 press headquarters. And media.

The Euro-Mediterranean Observatory said that Israel insists on escalating its military attacks that intentionally target Palestinian civilians, and continues to escalate the severity and pace of its crimes, expanding its geographical area to extend every meter in the Gaza Strip.

He added that Israel has systematically and continues to target civilian objects, especially cultural and religious ones, inflicting the largest possible number of victims and causing destruction and material losses “as a form of revenge and collective punishment.”
