Cyclone Tej: 42 dead and injured and 13 thousand displaced in Yemen
The United Nations revealed on Wednesday that Cyclone "Tej", which recently struck a number of governorates in southeastern Yemen, caused the death and injury of more than 40 people, more than 13,000 displaced people, most of them children, and damaged hundreds of homes.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said in a brief update published on its account on the "X" platform, that Cyclone "Tej" caused the death and injury of 42 people, and the displacement of 13,300 people, including 6,916 children, which represents 52% of the total number of displaced people.
She added that Al-Mahra was the governorate most affected by the hurricane, as two people were killed and 40 others were injured, in addition to the displacement of more than 11,900 people, including 6,188 children.
She indicated that the hurricane caused the displacement of 1,400 people. Including 728 children in Hadhramaut Governorate, while it caused damage to 500 homes in the Socotra Archipelago.
UNICEF explained that it had prepared basic medical and nutritional supplies to ensure continuity of service and respond to the needs of those affected by the hurricane in the three governorates.
